Hello,
Have a brand new Eaton 5S - 750 UPS.
Running Mojave on a iMac.
Question: I understand that Eaton does not have any Mac specific software.
But, that by using the USB cable between the unit and the mac, and going to Preferences/Energy Saver in the Mac Preferences, it is possible to configure the mac to shutdown, e.g., after 5 minutes of being on battery power. (and possibly other options also?)
Not sure what kind of signal the UPS sends to the mac, but apparently several of the options that APC and Cyberware UPS Mac software have can be duplicated in the Mac Preferences/Energy Saver screens.
Not too sharp with this "stuff' anymore. That old age problem, I guess.
Might someone please walk me thru:
- What options are available in this manner ? Which are not ?
- How to configure ? (really very specific steps would be most appreciated)
- Limitations, caveats, etc. ?
Much thanks, really appreciate the help,
Bob
BTW: I bought this Eaton unit as I had really bad luck with my old APC UPS, and several posts alluded to Eaton "being of higher quality".
Think I should return the Eaton, and purchase a Cyberpower, or a new APC Model instead ?
