HI All,

I like my beats fit pro but they have been dying. I was hoping I could hold out until they got upgraded to the H2 chip but I've started to look around. For context from Apple these cost $200.- , I think you can probably find them on sale for $150? About a week ago I found this eBay listing which charges about $70.- :

eBay listing

It has not been taken down and I'm confused. It looks too good to be true and it is from China. At the same time I'm surprised eBay's bots haven't taken it down after a week. I'm tempted because it says it has an eBay money back guarantee. If they don't show up like my old ones with transparency mode etc. could I claim fraud? I mean greed gets people in trouble but at the same time they are getting old so I don't know what the deal could be.

Curious about people's thoughts.

Tempting! I need a new pair. 30 day returns, but buyer pays for return shipping. Wonder how much it would be for shipping back to China, and whether going thro Chinese customs is a hassle. Seller does have a good rating and their store has a lot of stuff for sale.

I'll report back. I took the plunge. I think if they are fakes (my guess) I can have eBay void it because of counterfeit listing. I'm not NEARLY clever enough to be able to tell from sound or case. If they pair like "apple/beats" ones do with special animation and correct color and they show up through iCloud on all apple devices I'll be happy enough.

My hope is that they are old enough that somehow people in China pay less? But again my guess just very good fakes. I don't think they can fake the animations on the iOS devices since those would be tied to the H1 chip?

We will see.

Probably fake. And yes they have learned how to spoof the animation already, the fake airpods do it.

UGH, so how would you check for fraud? Can I verify the serial number through Apple ? I assumed that couldn't be faked .

I am not sure they would show on the serial number checker at apple.com since they arent made by apple.

Know that for fake Airpods the scammers are printing valid serial numbers on them that show up on the serial number checker.

On the really good fake Airpods I encountered one tell was that when I tried to activate FindMy it would not work and it told me these airpods would be visible to another AppleID. They were presumably linked to the original owner of the valid (but cloned) serial number.

thank you for educating me. I actually look a bit forward to these knockoffs in a perverse way. See if I can spot the fake :) . I was 90% sure they were fake and that I could spot it on the Apple software side. Guess not !

Well, I didn't even get my headphones :) . In the end I got some plastic trinket. Not quite sure how the scam works. eBay refunded my money within the hour.

As always if it sounds too good to be true it probably is,

Now if only Apple/Beats would put an H2 chip in the Beats Fit Pro they could have my $249 :)

Yes you can, I once bought PowerBeats Pro that were counterfeit and used the serial number checker on Apple website to prove they were fake. The serial number on the packaging was a serial number that had been previously used then replaced. Also the serial number on this model was supposed to be embeded in the case but wasn't. Luckily the site I purchased from had no issue refunding me the money and they paid the return postage. If it sounds too good to be true than it is too good to be true.

the sellers know they are being unscrupulous. for the price they sell them for and profut margin they must know they are fakes or stolen. bottom line. they are quick to refund with no questions asked to skirt being accused and reported. the seller that scammed me attempted to first claim the reused serial number was because they were 'refurbished', and then wanted me to leave a positive review before they returned my money. i got ebay involved and got my refund.

There are alot fake AirPods type scams on eBay. I saw one even say "REPLICA" in the title.

On the Beats Fit Pro. I have a pair but would not buy again as a wing on the right pair has torn. Im a very careful user and have had them for around 1.5 years and I didnt really use them much until recently. Can still use them but risk eventually coming away or dropping out when outside.

I haven't approached apple yet but other people have reported this issue and apple have charged $90 for a replacement.

To me this is a design problem and I wouldn't buy them again because of this. I just ordered the AirPods Pro 2.

I brought the beats thinking they would stay in better but no matter what headphones I use the left side eventually becomes loose so brought the Pros and ill just have to adjust them as necessary.

Good to know about the serial checker. Yup, most deals are too good to be true. Although I've had good success with some used stuff in very good condition and above. I wouldn't want that with headphones but other stuff tech products?

If something seems too good to be true, it normally is. And China? Even more dodgy.
Well, I went in it with my eyes wide open. When I ordered it I was 75% sure it was. I wonder what the benefit to them is? I mean eBay refunded me my money . Maybe some people don't report them? No clue. No harm on my side.
