Found a listing on Craigslist for MB Pro 16" 36GB ram, 1TB SSD for $1000. Lister wants to go through ebay (buyer money back guarantee). I've never done this before. Her story is their son was killed in a car accident, it was his and they want to get rid of it. They are asking for my name, address, phone for bill of sale. Ebay will contact me in setting this up and explain their process.
Good or bad? It makes me nervous but there are just too many scammers out there.

Scam. Scammers feed on greed.

NEVER do things like this. Like you need the info about their son? And why would you want that anyway? To save big bucks. Yeah right. EBay contacts you? what a joke.

Get real. It's hard sometimes to resist this, but best work on a filter.

Or go for it, and ask them to wipe the blood off it first.

It makes no sense that a Craiglist seller wants to use eBay for a sale. If it wasn’t a scam, the seller would have listed on eBay to begin with. Sounds like someone running a Phishing scam to get information for identity fraud. Stay way from that.
Phish. They should contact the police and set up a sting, or somebody is going to get ripped off. The perps seem vulnerable here, but it probably only seems that way. The police won't do anything, even with the 'supposed' cyber crime divisions. But I can't be sure about their location. It may even be organized crime, operated remotely, hence 'lets not do business here'

It's amazing how scammers always have some good story as to why they need to do a deal a certain way; the answer to that is because it works. I've bought stuff of of Craigslist and always meet in person somewhere safe; reputable sellers will do so since it keeps them safe as well; if the start in with a "I can't because..." or "I need to use...," it's adios, MF.

If it has an odor it probably is a scam (or just bad coding practices).

I asked to meet in a police station parking lot. Doubt I'll hear back from them. Once I get them talking I can spot them but I spend little time online and not that savvy in spotting it. Under many life changing crisis at this point in time so thought I'd reach out and ask. THANKS EVERYONE! I will be buying from apple or local craigslist (I've had good luck with that in the past) when the times comes.

ebay will NEVER contact you. Some scammer pretending to work at ebay will contact you. That is simply not how ebay works.

If you want to buy it on ebay then ask them to list it on ebay and then you buyu it on ebay. Still, ebay never contacts you. But you woud be covered. But ONLY if they listed it on eBay.
