Yeah, but even so, Apple sells it for cheaper ($499- 16GB WiFi edition) and it's guaranteed you'll get the actual product on time on April 3rd.

Still not a scam. People are obviously willing to pay that much since they are bidding on it. I bet a lot of them are probably outside of the U.S. since eBay is one of the easiest ways to get one in that case.

How can you sale something you don't even own yet.

eBay has a rule about pre-orders. I think you can't offer the product for sale more than a month in advance or something like that. In any case, this appears to be an entirely legit eBay item.

Only in the US. That auction calls out "worldwide" shipping. I certainly wouldn't open myself up to the risk of shipping to countries with known fraudulant chargebacks, but hey, supply and demand make it tempting for others.
