Hey guys,

how many have added the source for ebooks by chris sterling: http://chriss.brandonsgames.com/index.xml

i downloaded several books and when i try to view them i get the following error:

"Could not determine text encoding. try changing the default encoding in preferences"

i have the encoding preferences set to automatic.

fyi: the ebooks found in community sources work fine. it's just the ones by chris that are weird. i'm using books 1.37. planning on updating to 1.4.

here's an excerpt from the files. maybe someone could tell me what kind of code that is:

<FONT size="+1" color="#000000"></B>Dan Brown - Angels and Demons</P>
<P>A N G E L S & D E M O N S </P
><p>Dan Brown - Angels and Demons</P
><P

Thanks

here is the answer

anyone? I just need to know what code format is that. Would it help if I upgrade to 1.1.4?

hi,
just registered in this forum to answer your question.
the problem with chris ebooks is that their permission is 000, it means that you dont have the read permission.
you have to either ssh to your iphone and go to their files and change their permission or use an application like mobilefinder or squid on your iphone (you can get them via installer) to change the permission.you should grant the read and execute permission to both the folder and the html files inside it.
the address in your iphone is: /User/Media/EBooks
let me know if you have further questions.
please email me at hoomanp@zagrosltd.com because i dont check this forum.
hope this be useful.
