Echofon is a free Twitter app

I really like this app but it crashes a lot
and some times it gets super slow

Anybody else have this problem?

I'm On a 3g. If that matters

I used it for quite awhile, never had any problems! It was always fast and never crashed or froze up. I used it on both a 3G and 3G S.

did you use the new version, it came out last week I think

I have the paid version and never had a problem. I also use the Echofon Twitter app with no problems and use the Echofon desktop app to keep my iPhone and Mac read messages in sync. All work great.

I've had the free version for quite awhile and never had a problem. Besides missing a few features, it's perfect for my twitter needs.

I've had Twitterfon for ages and just recently upgraded to Echofon Pro and so far it's been flawless. It's without a doubt my favorite Twitter app.

i guess it's one of the best, simplest and fastest free twitter client available on app store. used it for a while - no complaints. only got bored with it. try tweetdeck too.

Yeah, I've used it. It's garbage. Get Tweetie.

Loren, is that you? Tweetie is garbage. How can the "most popular Twitter app" not support push notifications, not indicate which tweets are unread, and not include the features that made Tweetie 1 popular.

Tweetie is the best Twitter app, hands-down. Add Boxcar for Push for it and Facebook. Problem solved.

Oh, and T2 has a time line so you can see unread tweets.

Themes are the only missing feature and those are coming back and the new features are so much better.

I use Echofon - no crashes for me. It's a very nice basic free twitter app. If you aren't a power user, I'd highly recommend it.

I cant be the only one this app crashes?

im reading the reviews in the appstore and A lot of people are having the same problems too

I know for sure its the ad on top thats causing the app to crash

I removed the ad and now, no crashes

Twitter is not email. You don't have to read all the tweets. The perfect Twitter client will show me which feeds have new tweets and then when I get to the top, assume I've read them all.

Hey, cool, that's exactly what Tweetie does.

A Twitter client is for client side Twitter use. You can't get push notifications from a Twitter client. In order to get push notifications, you would need a twitter service. Tweetie is not a service, it is a client. Maybe Twitter will come out with its own push service. That way all these developers won't have to run a server that checks all of the accounts of all people using their client and sends push notifications.

Until then, Boxcar works fine.

This guys Tweets are what's garbage. He's in every thread related to Twitter bashing everything but what he uses.

My tweets are garbage? Probably shouldn't follow me, then. Don't you love how Twitter works that way? If you don't like someone's tweets, you don't have to see them? It's great.

You can get push notifications from Echofon. It's under settings>notifications>Echofon. And yes, Echofon highlights all unread, or in your semantically-concerned world, "new" tweets from the last time the application was opened or unread/new tweets that have occurred during a refresh. And yea, your tweets are garbage...if you don't want others thinking that, remove the link on your sig. No one has to follow you to conclude that your tweets are trash.

I think you've grossly misinterpreted my post.

I know. Never said it didn't.

I wasn't commenting on semantics at all.

I never said I don't want others thinking that. I don't care whether or not others think my tweets are garbage. Why would I? Just don't follow me if you think they are garbage. Most of them are garbage.

Maybe if you go through all the images I post you can tell me how ugly I am or how badly I suck at Illustrator. Or look at my geotagged tweets and tell me that I live in a bad part of town.

I know it's upsetting that the Twitter client you use sucks, but attempting to insult me is not going to change anything.

Echofon "sucks" only according to your ill-advised and poorly articulated opinion. Continuing to repeat it on here over and over again isn't going to change anything either.

Have you ever even used Tweetie 2 or Echofon? In every measurable sense, Tweetie 2 is far superior. Further articulating that would be redundant.

Yes I have used both, and I prefer Echofon for its simplicity and speed. I know it must come as a shock to you that some people's preferences and needs don't exactly match yours.

Oh, do explain. What makes Echofon simpler or faster than Tweetie? Both have the same network bottleneck.

But you must realize that the second sentence in your post is the the pot calling the kettle black. ;)

Except that I didn't write "Tweets". I wrote "posts". I've never followed you on Twitter. Don't know why my post was edited.

I really don't care to start another "Echofon vs Tweetie" debate - there has been plenty of those already - just use search. I prefer Echofon, you prefer Tweetie - can we just leave it at that?

But you must realize that the second sentence in your post is the the pot calling the kettle black. ;)

Actually, no. I simply stated that everyone is entitled to their preferences. The current versions of both apps get solid 4-star ratings on App Store, so the user community as a whole thinks both are of roughly comparable quality. However, unlike you, I never said Tweetie was "garbage" or "it sucked" or anything of the sort.
