I have a locked phone, hacked but still with ATT. Today my edge stopped working, will not connect with the server, no maps, no safari. Wifi will still work along with all phone functions. ATT says there is no edge outage inmy area and my account shows all the right activations. I have had my phone since launch day, and this is the first edge issue. Any one else have this problem, or suggest any help. I have done erase and restore of the iphone, but still no luck.

Thanks,

Matt...

There is a new checksum. If the phone has be unlock in anyway EDGE is disabled.

j/k Sure it was not an outage? A restore is a BIT drastic. Cellular net access is not known to be a reliable as DSL and cable. It often goes up and down. Its not as bad as it used to be, but I always wait 24 hours before I call it in.

I thought I may have been a bit drastic, but the ATT customer service kept telling me it had to be a problem with my iPhone, so I figured I would try to restore, but still no edge.

I've been experiencing a lot of dropped data issues, almost like Edge has been tweaking out or something. But it could also be that I moved to a new room in my house that may just be more of a dead zone. Who knows...

I had the same or similar issue. After multiple unsuccesful trouble shooting sessions with both Apple and At&t I figured out on my own that my Edge connection would get flakey primarily after using WiFi. My phone would connect to Edge fine for awhile-then be unable to connect later for no apparent reason. Turns out it was always after I'd been using WiFi-even if I subsequently disabled the WiFi antenna. Since leaving wifi off continuously-I have had no issues connecting to edge.

I don't like not being able to use a main feature of my phone-but for now, it is the lessor of two evils.

I was having the same issue and all I did was reset network settings and the phone resets it self and edge works with no problem, your wifi passwords get erased so you will have to put those back in.
