edge not working

I have had a tmobile iphone for about 2 months with a turbo sim. I am subscribed to edge and the internet just doesn't work. It worked when I first got it for about 3 days, and then it worked for about 3 hours last week. The little E just appeared for a little bit. And then went away. It seems like when the phone automatically connects to a wifi network, it won't connect back to edge whenever i go back outside. I have called tmobile and there is nothing wrong with my service, and they know I have an iphone. I would appreciate any help anyonoe can get, I am almost ready to give up and get a g1.
