Earlier I'd had a problem with all my skype contacts getting added into the contacts app. I finally figured out how to get rid of them, however now every time the skype app gets launched it goes and puts them back in there and I have to go and delete them again. I'm hoping there is a way to edit the permissions so that Skype doesn't have permission to access the contacts app. My other alternative is to just delete skype, but I'd prefer to keep it on there since it's nice sometimes.

Unfortunately, the app developer decides what permissions it gets. You may be able to use Xposed but that would require rooting.

Usually the contacts app has a setting for which contacts to display. You should be able to disable displaying Skype contacts there.

What phone are you using. ?

If a Samsung phone you can edit which contacts to display in the contacts / settings menu. Just untick Skype.

It's a Sony Z1 Compact.

It probably has a similar settings to disable the skype contact. I had a z3 for a little bit, and it did have this option. Go to settings---accounts---and check your Skype account. There should be an option to remove contacts.

Yeah that's what I had thought I'd found, and I removed the skype contacts, but they keep coming back the next time Skype is launched.
