hi
does anyone know how to edit jpeg & gif files on mac..i hv os x panther..
also ...what are the good web designing tools available for mac...
i would appreciate any help...

Well, there are Mac versions of most major image editing apps out there, such as Photoshop.

Same thing with web design apps. You can get Dreamweaver, or GoLive if you prefer.

Also if you just want to do some simple image cropping or retouching you can just use iphoto.

If you're feeling brave could also try using GIMP in X11. Just install fink and fink commander (should be included in the package) and install GIMP through fink commander. It's a very good image editor with many features that photoshop has. Plus it's FREE!:)
 
Simply Graphic Converter will be enough for most "hobbiest"

Though I still recommend Photoshop to everyone I meet. Though I wish I had CS, but 7 will work fine for me, maybe you can get a discount on 7 from ebay or something? Just don't go lower than 7 because those have no X support. Webpages? BBedit or Macromedia Apps. I haven't used Golive and my campus teaches with Fireworks, so I can't really say one is better than another.
