My question is, when I am viewing iPhone iCloud photos on my iPad and want to edit them, it asks you to download before it can be edited. Once it is edited and synced with iCloud, does the photo delete from the iPad?

I am worried about storage when editing iCloud photos.

It's a mess. I'm dealing with 3000+ photos in my iCloud and I use apple all in the same account exclusively. Deleting dups is a task. I'd recommend upload edit then add to iCloud only after final touches.

If you're in a space-constrained situation, then once you download a photo to edit it, something else will be deleted elsewhere (e.g. an older photo). The edited photo will stay put for at least a while since it was a recently used file.
