Editing videos on the iPad

While I'm waiting for the camera connector kit, I got curious to see how it might handle imported videos. I shot a little 10 second video on my camera and emailed it to my iPad. It saved the attached video, which goes to the "saved photos" gallery. It played fine and allows you to edit (or trim) the video and resave it. Unfortunatley, when you do that it seems to delete the audio part of the video. Oh well. Is that the way it works on the iPhone?
