Edu discount on new Mini's?

I was disappointed when I saw that the new Mini's only had an education discount of $20 here in the US (previously around $60 I think). However, when I went to an actual Apple store here in NY to buy one, they took $50 off the purchase. Is it common for the store discount to vary from the apple.com one?

I got the $800 model btw, in case anyone was curious. (damn this thing is a beast for a mini!)

Probably a mistake (salesman error), just using the old discount on the new hardware.

I ordered my mini (2.3 i5) from Apple UK HE Education and paid £476.40 plus £36 for the applecare.

Not a bad saving
