The Apple Stores (online and in-person) are the only places that honor the educational discount, right?
 
uhhm, unless wherever your buying from has an edu discount, then you could use that. But anyplace place other than the apple stores will not give a discount.

Yeah or the local College but you need ID. Amazon has a good deal after the rebates and ends up being cheaper if you don't mind getting a Mac shipped to you (I did this with my iMac).

Yes that is correct. However when purchasing apple software at education prices, this is only available online.

Authorized resellers such as CompUSA don't offer apple education discounts.

Well case by case CompUSA will match the price for you. I work in one and we rarely turn someone down for it.
