Hi,

Does anyone know what is the minimum grade level in order to qualify for an EDU discount? If the student was in Elementary School, would he qualify? How about High School? And, what manner of verification is required?

Also, how much is the discount for, say, an iMac?

TIA,

EVP

I got a 24" iMac via the Apple store, the discount was $100. Far cry from back in 2001 when I got my Quicksilver, it was 10% or so back then.

i think you need to be in at least highschool i think but im not for certain.
its more of the honor system when you go into the education store. apple trusts that their customers won't cheat them through the edu store.
i the discount isn't much. i think the starting price for an imac through the edu store is $100 off.

I think education discounts are only good for college students. A typical discount for apple hardware is anywhere between 10-15%.

I phoned the sales number on the apple store (UK) website.

I enquired about buying an imac for my Girlfriend is is doing an OU course. And he said "no problem" and charged me the edu price with no proof. It worked out to about 9.5% off the 24" 2.4 imac - plus 3 years applecare thrown in free!! And also half-price iWork and Office 2004 apparently ...Pretty good deal I think.

A friend of mine phoned to buy a macbook a while before and said he was pursuaded on the phone by the salesguy to say he was buying it for someone else. Sort of like an "Are you suurrrrre you don't know any students??? nudge nudge wink wink" kind of attitude.

To be honest, I think it's always worth phoning them up instead of ordering online as they seem to knock money off stuff all over the place. ...I've heard of many deals offered on the phone that beat the standard online prices.
