I'm new to Apple/Macs so I can't estimate myself when the Mac Mini's will be released. Can y'all help me out with your estimate? With the excitement generated by the new Macbook Pros, I would think very soon. Also from a business standpoint, they would probably want to release them quickly since anybody who wants a Mac Mini now would have a tough(EASY) decision to make considering the MBPs annihilate the current Mac Mini. I don't know what I'm talking about guys. Soon? Weeks? Months? Never? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I've read the articles on the buyersguide. Want to know if any of you have noticed patterns or would know if Apple would release the Mac Mini IMMEDIATELY after the current release of the MBPs. Would they have a priority? Maybe iMacs first?

The Mac Minis have been updated with the iMacs before. I think it was the early 2009 update. As to an estimation, I'm pretty sure no one knows. What we can do is speculate this summer maybe during WWDC.

If you need to have a Mini for your HTPC selling before a refresh is a bad idea. By the time you are certain when the upgrade is going to happen the value of the Mini would have dropped a bit, but how much do you value the use of it?

If I was to sell one of my Minis I would do it after a refresh and after purchasing a replacement Mini and setting up.

It's a bit different when you don't already have one. Then waiting for a refresh is acceptable if you don't need it now.

The length between Mac Mini refreshes has varied a great deal. So difficult to say when it would happen. Hopefully sometime in the first half of this calendar year, but we'll have to wait and see.

What i realized was that apple comes out with computer about every 2 years. I have the macbook that came out in late 2009. The one that is in the apple store now. But mine is 2.2ghz and 2gb of ram.. unlike the new ones that have a 2.4ghz processor.. That computer came out late 2009 so i am assuming that another model would come out late 2011 like how i said every two years.
I dont know if this is true this is my assumption.
I myself am waiting for the newer Mac Mini so i dont buy the one that they have now and have the older one. I would rather wait a couple of months.

:( I was hoping for more "Marchish" estimates. I don't think I can wait one whole month... Please APPLE hurry! With all this buzz with the MBPs, the sales will be enormous.

Thanks everybody.

It's frustrating because the current Minis are so underpowered and bad value for money generally but with a spec update they could be a viable proposition again.

And the design/form-factor is great.

Agreed. It's only a matter of time. We can only guess when it might happen, but I doubt they'll want another product coming out at the same time as the iPad. With the iPad coming to a number of countries late March, I think March is highly unlikely and mid-April is probably the earliest we could expect to see more Mac refreshes. I hope I'm wrong.

Some would disagree with that. The new design may look a bit better than the old one, but in terms of upgradeability (apart from RAM), the 2009 Minis were much more upgradeable.

I bought an Apple TV2 to tide me over until the new mini arrives. With my iMac and MBP combined with my NAS and AirPlay things are still ok. The mini will complete the setup and allow me to record cable with my Elgato HD TV.
