I am just wondering if I would be able to make use of my educational discount one month after I have graduated?

oh goodness, this is going to cause every one to start to freak out and yell at each other about morals. Let me take a guess though, the reason you want to wait a month after you graduate is because there is a strong likelihood that a certain laptop might be updated a bit?

I will note that you should look at your student ID, they tend to expire about 3-4 months after the graduation date and if it still is granting you access I say you have a colorable argument that it was legit for a 1 month post grad purchase. But as others above noted, no one is really going to care.

when I went to the Apple Store in Dallas, TX, i was not even aksed to show a student ID or verification, a matter of fact he applied the discount without even asking. I was surprised by this and he said that it was policy for the workers to apply the discount to people who they suspect are applicable to the discount!

I say do it. You can apply the money you save towards those painful student loans.

they seldom check... but there's this one time that i told them i didn't have my skool id and they asked me to log on to my school's site...

also, my friend got most of her stuff on apple store online said they never asked her to prove that she's a student. in addition, anyone can buy refurb apple products, which have comparable discounts as well.

While we're on the subject of Education discounts, does anyone know if you can get them in the Apple Store, or if they are only online? I'd love to just walk into the Apple Store in July after Santa Rosa MBPs come out and just buy one instead of ordering online and waiting for a week to get it.

You can get education discounts on hardware in B&M (brick and mortar) Apple stores. You may NOT get educationally priced software in-store (gotta be ordered online).

Good to know, that means I can walk into the store and walk out with a shiny new Macbook Pro this summer. :D Now I just hope the stock configuration is what I want, because you can't get upgrades in the store.

I graduated from college two years ago and still use my student discount. My school still hasn't removed my e-mail address, and that's all they check when I go into the store.

I almost always order as a "student" from the Apple Store online. Here's my thought process....

1) I've been buying Apple computers, personally, since 2000 (and that would be a total of 5 machines). As a family, we had 2 other machines before those.

2) When I bought the iBook back in 2001, I asked them (the Apple store on the phone) why I should buy from them when MacMall or something like that was offering the same price but with more RAM? The guy kindly dropped the price by about $100. Never asked if I was a student. Obviously, there's room for Apple to "negotiate," when necessary.

3) I buy stuff from them all the time, including QT Pro, Mighty Mouse, 4 iPods (2 for me, 2 gifts), 802.11n enabler....

So, I justify the student discount as more of a loyalty discount. I'm buying.... I'm buying all the time. How about a discount to help me buy MORE? :p

Come on, now. No excuses. You're cheating the system. You don't need to make up bad excuses.

I use my student discount. It sure helps that I've been a uni student now for almost 8 year. My next machine will also be bought while I'm still a student.

Yes, I suppose so, but I'll always be a paying customer and I'm sure that matters to Apple more than me getting a $100 discount of a machine. For me, it helps because I can add extra stuff for slightly less. They still win more than I do.

I'm a Homeschooler and buy thru the Homeschool store! Can do it in person too, but they will require "proof" (which i have), online is different.

Nice of Apple to offer that to us!
