My sister in law qualifies for the education discount
And ipod promotion. Id like to have her by one
For me. Can I still register it in my name or does this all have to be under her name? Also, she wants to get a new laptop next week, can you get 2 free iPods or are you limited to one?

Like the other poster, only one ipod rebate per year per person. Be sure to read the fine prints for education purchase. You are limited to certain amount per year.

The terms are as follow.

Purchase Quantity
Faculty, Staff and Students purchasing from the Apple Store for Education Individuals will be allowed to purchase the following quantities of product per academic school year:

Desktop: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
Mac mini: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
Notebook: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
Display: A maximum of two (2) may be purchased per academic year
Software: A maximum of two (2) per software title may be purchased per academic year
Apple TV: There is no limit on the quantity of Apple TV purchases per academic year
iPod: There is no limit on the quantity of iPod purchases per academic year

It has to be purchased in her name but can be registered in yours. One iPod with the promotion.

How does this effect taking it in for repair or making a return?

At what stage do you register the machine?

I'm in the same boat, just graduated a couple of weeks ago. What proof do they even need to buy something as a student?

Show a student ID. Since the summer break isn't over, I bet you'd still qualify.

And Toyota used to extend their student discount for a year. Bring your own brakes.

I've purchased several machines over the years with my discount. I have never had any issues, nor ever had Apple question my discount. I've always had a legit discount, so I've never worried about it, however while Apple reserves the right to audit it, the policy seem to be one of honesty.

substitute iPod Classic for iPod touch (educational deal)

Hi,

Anyone know whether it is possible to use the 199 credit for an iPod Touch and use it towards an iPod Classic?

Thanks,
Joe

I just ordered an imac i clicked on the student discount link, the price dropped and I also was able to choose the free ipod touch. What concerns me is that I completed my order but it never asked me for student ID or school. Can someone let me know how this works? Thanks.

So If she buys an imac for me and a macbook pro for her, she only gets 1 ipod not two?

They count on your honesty.

Is the student discount still reduced? It seems to top out at $100 now when it used to be 10% off.

If you actually access the HE store from your university network, is the discount more than if you went on the education site everyone can access from home?

By HE store are you referring to the UK educational discount?

In the UK - it is a bit cheaper than the generic Education store route to go through your University network (£20-100 depending on the product - better discount if it is more expensive) plus through the HE store you get 1 year Phone support and 3 year limited warranty - this in place of the standard 30 day and 1 year through the normal Education store.

What if I want to get a printer, can the $199 rebate be put towards the printer? Or, is the $199 rebate limited to ipods? Can you use the $199 rebate to get a free ipod touch and use the $100 rebate to get a printer, or is it one or the other?

Thanks, Greenhead

Pretty sure you can use the $199 rebate for only ipods, and can also use the $100 rebate only for printers. You can use them together though, but only for what they were intended to be used for.

So if you buy a new mac, you can get $100 off a printer AND $199 off an ipod.

Hey thanks, I guess I might as well get the ipod since it will basically be free after rebate. I was hoping to use the $199 for the printer then the Epson Artisan 810 would only be $50, guess I could always sell the ipod to make up the difference.
