check it out.

I just thought it was interesting. I know in my other thread about "the eeePC becoming more of a competition," there is a raging debate on whether the two machines are even competing in the same market niche. That argument aside, I think this brings them a step closer together.

I generally think competition is always a good thing. It will be interesting to see how the eeeMulti-Touch thing plays out...

The power brick is a big disappointment. ASUS said beforehand that they would be making it even smaller than the shaver adaptor for the 701. Not sure whether the small touchpad is ideal for gestures, either.

Guess it might be through a touch screen...

Jeff Han has been doing it for years. Example here

Microsoft has the "surface" technology as well. Sorry folks, but it doesn't just belong to Apple.

I don't understand this mentality. Why do people not want apple to have any competition?

I didn't say I didn't like the competition. I was just saying that i would have been happier if only macs had multi touch. It's just that it makes me happy just because I know only macs have it. But as I said, oh well. I do like competition however.

I am much happier that macs aren't the only ones with multi-touch. It wouldn't be good for the industry if they were, and it wouldn't be good for mac users, as it would greatly reduce the motivation for Apple to keep innovating at such a fast pace.

Imagine if the eeePC beats the MBP (and everyone else) to having a multi-touch LCD screen... I mean, it might be rubbish, but it's innovation and it gives the consumer more choices. Competition is almost always a very good thing.

Oh yeah good point. I remember when Apple had the first backlighting feature in keyboards and the first 17" widescreen in portables and the other companies followed. Maybe Apple wants to get ahead of the competition more and I hope they create some interesting technology in the future. I mean multi touch is a huge thing but I don't know if a computer will be as good when based completely on multi touch. That video was cool though...
For some reason though, I don't like tablet PCs. They all look fugly. Hopefully Apple can change that.

hmm u sure
they invented it so they probs could still sue
oh wellz kinda wierd how everyone seems to copie apple!
-jake

That is what I thought but then it's kinda like GUI. Apple didn't invent it but they bought it and then Microsoft decided they wanted a GUI too.
