I use my iPod touch (5G until recently, now a 6G) for listening to audiobooks via its internal speaker. It works really well with it in my shirt pocket, and the sound quality is fine for speech. On both models it seems that using the speaker causes the battery to discharge rather more rapidly than any other type of usage.
It looks like 4 - 5 hours is what I will get on the new one, similar to the 4G. As expected, the battery lasts much longer on earphones, and I wonder if anyone else has the same experience.
