So I'm having a minor problem with my EFI screens. I have a Twin Frozr 280X that is flashed for the EFI boot screen. They don't show up at all; the only part of the boot screen I see is the last ~20% of the progress bar which loads in like 2 seconds. I flashed it with the BIOS posted on the "Flashing 280x for boot screen" thread. The odd thing is, I have the original HD 5870 that will also not display the boot screens. I don't know if a BIOS/EFI update did this, but since I switch to Windows quite often I would like the native boot option menu to work. Info is as follows:

Device: MacPro 5,1
macOS Version: Mojave DB2 (although this issue has been a thing since 10.13.4/5)
Boot ROM Version: MP51.0087.B00

What monitor are you using and how is it connected? If the monitor is trying to use DisplayPort 1.2 then you won't get the boot screens even with the EFI firmware. If you're connected by DisplayPort try HDMI or DVI. Most DP 1.2-capable monitors have a setting in the menu to force DP 1.1 so you could try that also.

I have two LG Ultrawides, one connected via Mini DP to DP, and one via HDMI. Both do not show any signal at all. However, I do have the Mini DP set as my primary one in macOS, but I don't know if that would affect the EFI screen.

Have you tried with just a single monitor connected via HDMI? Also look in the menu for your monitor and see if there is a DisplayPort 1.1 / 1.2 toggle.

Just tried one monitor with HDMI, same thing. My monitors unfortunately don't have a toggle for DP version. Any other ideas?

Just to be clear, is that an Apple 5870? And it never displayed boot screens? Or only just now? Or only just not on these particular monitors?
I believe there was no boot screen when I first got it wit the 5870. It definitely did not have it after I replaced the backplane due to me messing up the EFI on my original one.

Make your own EFI rom. Hundred's of us have done it.

Learning how to flash is rewarding but confusing at first.

If you can boot into Win 7 or 8,1 you will be able to flash both cards.

If you need help PM me. ( I just EFI flashed a Sapphire Dual-X HD 7970 this week. )

Also, is your 5870 a genuine Apple card ? I have two EFI flashed 5870's a Sapphire & a HIS.
