EFi Update has affected battery/reported battery.

Did the EFi update earlier and after a reboot my MBA showed 95% charge and a time remaining of 16hr40. Now it's three hours later and my MBA shows 81% charge and 9hr21 remaining

Can the EFi update be causing this?

Well, you probably aren't supposed to be getting 16 hours of battery life, so I don't know what your issue is...

Yeah, I have timed my battery a couple of times and get between 8.5-10.5hrs light surfing. Strange........

I see the estimated remaining time changes almost by the minute right now it says 7:07 remaining, but before I clicked reply to this thread it said 4:37. It just depends on the cpu load at the moment you click it.

Calibrating the battery is very important, otherwise you get weird figures like 16 hours. Before I calibrated mine, it constantly jumped between 2 hours to up to 18 hours with +90% battery. After calibration it has started to show reasonable numbers (6-9 hours when full) and doesn't fluctuate as much

My battery was apparently pretty well calibrated when I took the MBA out of the box. Anyway, after I recalibrated a week or two ago, the numbers stayed about the same as they had been during the preceding 3 or 4 weeks. Even when the battery is calibrated the estimated time remaining indication will fluctuate wildly, depending on what you are doing with the computer. My range of estimated time on the battery when it's full is similar to what you have reported, 6 to 9 hours. Right now, while I am reading emails and posting here, my estimated remaining time fluctuates in the 2:30 to 3:00 hour range, with about 35 percent of the charge remaining. The firmware update made no changes in this regard that I could see.
