A small compensation for Egg pulling the plug on the 10% Apple discount - I think Dixons do some iPod stuff but I'm not sure they do computers.
However, it does mean that you have to shop at Dixons, but if you don't mind being mugged by a spotty teenager who doesn't know too much then I guess it's ok. Me? I'd rather pay the extra 10% I think.

Not that I'd shop there, but just as a matter of interest:-

Is this just Dixons or PC World too?

Dixon’s, PC World and Curry’s are all the same company with different logos.

Last time I phoned for a replacement at Curry’s - I was able to take it into a Dixon’s store. So that was all good.

Just Dixons - the online store only.

(all the old Dixons retail stores are called something stupid like "Currys.digital" now I think)

I remember hearing this, yeah. "Shame". Bless 'em, trying to be "cool".

So it's only good if you want a new landline telephone or DVD player effectively. Thanks for the info.

I wonder if it works if you used it at Dixons at the airport?

They do sell (or used to) Powerbooks etc there with the VAT off.

So 17.5% VAT free and then another 10% off might be worthwhile ;)

No, the Egg link is for dixons.co.uk - as with the old Apple cashback offer, it appears to apply to the online store only. (correct me if I'm wrong though!)

I still remember getting my 1.5Ghz PB 15" for £675 from them :D

But yeah, they sell Apple kit including laptops :)

Darn... didn't read the offer itself so assume that you're right! Pity though - Dixons duty free or while they're clearing stock are the only time that the prices are worth considering.

Wow, Dixons really is *amazing* value for money.

For £2,599.00 (plus £16.99 delivery) you can get the following PowerBook:

- G4 667MHz
- 512Mb RAM
- DVD & CD rewriter
- 30Gb hard drive
- 15.2" TFT display
- Mac OS X 10.1
- 56k modem
- Built-in Airport Card
- iMovie 2, iTunes 2
- Plus a digital camera

Hurry while stocks last!
