Mac Pro 4,1/5,1 chipset does not have support for Thunderbolt, it's not possible to use eGPU via Thunderbolt. You can however use a PCIe external chassis and mount GPU's outside the Mac Pro, if this is what you want.

Thx for your advice. I install two display cards successfully by using two sata to 6 pin connectors. The issue is that only one hdd bay can be used now. However, I got another issue on macOS Mojave beta installation. I use Mojave patcher to install but BT keyboard and mouse did not work when external USB boots up so I cannot go further to install.

My Mac Pro configurations are as follows:-

Mac Pro 2009 early with firmware upgrade to 5,1
1st display card: ATI 4870 Mac original display card
2nd display card: MSI Radeon RX580 Armor 8g OC (PC version)
32g RAM
1g SSD

System run properly for high Sierra 10.13.6 but cannot install Mojave

Would any advice?

Thx

First, check if your MP firmware is MP51.0089.B00, upgrade the BootROM using 10.13.6 full installer from Mac App Store if not.

Remove 4870, since it's a non-Metal card, Mojave installer reject it. Then you can install with RX580 only.

You can try to install with startosinstall too, even with 4870 on your MP: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ard-list-finally.2124795/page-5#post-26195450

Don't use Mojave patcher, it's only for unsupported Macs.

If you only use macOS, you will not find problems. With BootCamp, you will need to take more care with selection of startup disk, maybe learn boot screen selection keys.

One last thing, you will need to reinstall your original GPU whenever Apple will update the firmware - 5 times in less than one year.

I do not have a Mac Pro, but I enjoyed reading your suggestions in this thread. Also, really appreciated how you went the extra mile and let the user know how to prevent possible future issues with the firmware upgrades. Good job. The world needs more people like you.

my mac pro got strange sound and don't know what had happened to my machine. However, my mac pro works normally except the boring sound.
