Im new in this area and trying to figure out one thing.
If I get a eGPU for my 2017 iMac and pretty much permanently use it to run with internal display, will I still be able to connect external display to iMacs tb3 port and have it powered with internal 570 card?

Cheers

Yes. But running an eGPU on the internal display will have a high performance tax. The issue is TB3 does not have enough bandwidth to handle the passthrough to the CPU and back. We need a dual-channel TB3 solution to get internal monitor performance up to par. Such a solution does not exist yet. Do not buy an eGPU for use on an internal monitor, unless the internal monitor's resolution is 1920x1080.

Thx a lot. That seals it for me. No go.
