So I've had 'Deep Sleep' on my MBP for approx. 2 months now. Used it a couple times, and didn't like it, and it was quirky. Sometimes I'd use it, turn on my laptop later and it would be acting weird for no reason (no keyboard input, acting like a certain key is stuck, etc). So I just stopped using it. Then, last week Fri, I downloaded Apple's latest update and installed it. Sometime around then, I also accidently (when opening Dashboard) clicked on the "Deep Sleep" widget, cause my laptop to hibernate. Then, on Sunday, I noticed that when I closed my laptop, it did not go straight into sleep as it usually does. I watched the light as I always do before putting it away in my bag, and instead of the light going into the "pulsing" phase, it just straight out went away. So for a second, I thought it shut down. I opened it to find it had just hibernated, which, I thought, your Mac was never supposed to be able to outright do unless you had something like 'Deep Sleep'. I mean, I know of Apple's "Safe Sleep" to protect your current data if the battery dies, but it shouldn't be doing that instead of regular sleeping. Ever since then, I've noticed, whenver I close my laptop, it does not go to sleep again, and instead goes into this "Safe Sleep". Even when I go to the Apple menu, and consciously press "Sleep", it goes into "Safe Sleep" now instead of regular sleep. Please tell me this is something Apple's update did and I can somehow reverse it...? Thanks.

Try the following command in terminal to see if it restores normal sleep behavior

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3

or disable safe sleep altogether with

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0

or if you want safe sleep always (you don't but others might)

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 1

Anyone else with a MB or MBP who downloaded the last Apple update experiencing this?
