Hello -

I've been having issues with my work iMac. I've never had to view DVDs/CDs. but recently came in to some.

The issue I'm having is El Cap is NOT recognizing my official Apple Superdrive via USB which works just fine with my Macbook pro, Mac Mini etc. When I insert a DVD....nothing.

I decided to use a wall-powered LG USB Drive. I've verified this works on a Windows machine. Once again, nothing. The only thing under "devices" is 'Remote Disc'. I tried resetting SMC, rebooting etc.

The drive will accept the discs but thats it. Sometimes eject (on the LG External drive) does not register. I've also swapped this out for an IDENTICAL drive and still the same issue.

Any help?

So, do the other devices work in the iMac USB ports? Also, you might watch the Console as you plug in the devices, it may give you a hint.

Yes. I had USB Drives, USB Fan, USB Hub....I honestly don't plug much in, and between my iMac AND Thunderbolt display it would be nice.

When the LG drive works (randomly), it will never eject the disc. I have to manually unplug it and pull the trap.
