El Capitan doesn’t recognize a Seagate external drive

I have a Macbook Pro 2011, bought a new Seagate external hard drive (Backup Plus for Mac); recently downloaded El Capitan; The new drive works fine with El Capitan, but, I had a previous Seagate external drive that functioned fine before the Mac upgrade but is not recognized now ; Is there anything that I can do?

Have you tested the drive on another Mac?

Sounds like a firmware issue. Check Seagate's site for your hard drive and see if it's supported:

have the same combo, everything connects and works fine.

I will give this a try and come back with the outcome
