El Capitan Public beta

Hi,

So I've been running the public beta on my mac. I actually only enrolled about a month ago, so I was fairly certain I was using quite an stable version.

When the day comes and El capitan is finally released, will my mac update to the official release?

How can I un-enroll my system from receiving any public betas?
in iOS is fairly straight forward, having only to remove the beta configuration profile.

is there anything like this in OSX?

Nope. You are stuck with this version forever, or at least until you you look below for the other 10 threads that ask the exact same question. You can also read the one that will be posted next week.


Ok...No...That's not true, at least not about you being stuck. You will certainly be able to update, just like any other release. The final beta release will be the same as the public release. Just keep an eye in your Apple menu for a marker on the App Store menu item, that indicates that an update is availiable.

Unenrolling from beta updates is simple, just go to:
System Preferences > App Store

Click the 'change' button next to 'Your computer is set to receive pre-release software update seeds'.

Well to someone else I would call them smart ass for giving me such a response.
In your case I will just thank you for your contribution. In any case, my main concern is not the update to the final version, which is what those 20 people you mention have asked. My main question is how to, once the final version comes, stop receiving subsequent updates or public betas. Meaning that, starting with the official release, I only wish to get official updates.

But hey, that's alright, I'll try to find an answer somewhere else. Thanks again.

thanks for your reply and trying to help. which is a lot more that I can say from the previous contributor.
That's the first place I went to, since I had the same question last year when I used the yosemite public betas.
however, it seems that this year they have changed things a little.

That's odd... it should be right there...
Did you download the installer for and update to the GM candidate? Or are you still on an old Pulbic Beta?

If you're still on an old beta, that might explain why the option to change enrollment is missing.

System Preference > App Store > Uncheck the Pre-Release software box and go here --

https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/guide look @ the very bottom of page -- hit un-enroll that should "clear" your ID from the Beta program ..

Hey, I must have missed that part of your question. I always try to answer the question, but still have a little fun. I am sure you will see on here that others will just berate you, but not give the answer.

You might be able to run this command in terminal to leave the seeding catalog for betas

sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL
