I always do that.
The problems that I have: sometimes the Mac hangs shutting down and I have to turn it off forcedly.
The preinstalled email client with IMAP mails is slow and unstable, often freezes.

Force quitting is not advised. Most likely there is something that is completing. When you force quit, it leaves the app in an unstable state.
Are you manually quitting apps or letting the shut down process quit open apps? Try quitting each individually and see if you can identify the app that identifies that it is still running a process before quitting.
RE: your mail issues. Often this is caused by too many emails in the Inbox. How many messages in your Inbox?
How much free space on your drive? Use Disk Utility or under the Apple in the Menu bar select About this Mac > Storage.
How much memory do you have installed?
