I'm not sure about the camera port. Would I need a micro-USB to USB 4? He can't find the old connector so I'd like to get him a replacement. Dude is 96-year-old so getting a new camera probably isn't the solution. He'd just like to get the existing photos off of this camera on to his brand new iMac.

^^ this.
On the bottom, there is a latch to access the battery and SD card.
The two connectors you showed: First one is a Lumix custom connector and needs a special cable to connect to USB. Second is Mini-HDMI to connect an external display to directly play content from the camera on a big TV.

If the camera uses SD memory cards, simply eject the card from the camera and put it into an SD Memory card reader to transfer everything on the card over to the computer.
Yep. Just make sure he copies then ejects the card. Once transferred originals are backed up, then he can erase images or reformat the card in the camera. Much safer than doing that from the computer.

FWIW as much as I like my Lumix ZS200, an elderly individual might find Panasonics menu methods a bit on the diabolical side.

You didn't tell us WHICH iMac he has.

If it's one of the new 24" iMacs with USBc ports on the back, be aware that most card readers have USBa type connections and a standard USBa cable won't work.

You'll need something like this:
Plug the card reader into the adapter cable, and then plug the adapter cable into the USBc port on the Mac.

If the Mac has USBa ports (2020 iMacs and earlier), this won't be needed.

EDIT:
There's still a problem in that the adapter above is "on the short side". He would have to be reaching around to the back to find the port every time he wants to use it.

So, I suggest one more cable "in the mix":
Set it up for him this way:
USBc-USBa adapter --> USBa extension cable --> USB card reader

Now, the 3 foot extension brings the card reader toward the front of the Mac, must easier for an older person to "get to". He'll like this arrangement.

Thanks, folks. I ordered the two cables that fishrrman recommended. That will give him the ability to download his photos himself.
Just so there is no misunderstanding, the cables/adapters are only to connect older USB-A devices to newer USB-C computers.
Like @Fishrrman said, you'd still need a (USB-A) SD cardreader or the special 14pin USB-cable for Panasonic Lumix DMC to actually connect the camera.

pretty sure Fishrrman is recommending replacing the lumix camera with a card reader.
of course, this is only necessary if the new machine doesn't already have a card reader builtin.
