These don't sound like comments from someone who is confident. I actually find them a bit disrespectful considering Apple has never publicly said anything disparaging about Tesla. Does he really think Apple just calls up Foxconn and says "hey build a phone for us"? I'll bet most manufacturing processes were actually designed by Apple. Why else would they have a huge operations organization with mechanical engineers who spend a significant amount of time in China?

Musk can say Apple is just hiring people he fired but that's clearly BS. It seems pretty obvious that this car project is serious and Apple is poaching Tesla employees. And the fact that Musk took a swipe at Watch makes me think it's Jony Ive's team doing the poaching (or Ive at least is heavily involved in the project).

Another quote from Musk:

"We always jokingly call Apple the 'Tesla Graveyard.' If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I’m not kidding."

Well obviously someone is just a wee bit afraid of Apple and all its cash. If Apple wasn't a threat Musk wouldn't be talking smack about it.

When Steve ripped other companies, many times he invoked the RDF. Let's remember that.
Let's also remember that he never invoked the RDF on companies for poaching Apple employees.
Let's also remember that Steve Jobs never ridiculed the abilities of employees who left Apple.

Musk is giving a pretty good Barney Fife impersonation with what essentially comes to "they couldn't pass muster." Kind of like what Elon's ex-wife would say about him as a husband, a lot of ex-employees are now saying about him as a CEO. He's a creep.

Tesla is going down the tubes fast. They will probably file for Chapter 7 next year.

I doubt it, considering they're taking government (read: OUR) money to develop and build fuel efficient vehicles. Apple doesn't need our tax dollars to achieve their goals.

1. I didn't mention Apple, I don't know why you brought them into this.
2. Tesla will stop getting government funds if Donald Trump gets into office.

Heh.

1. This thread is about Apple and Tesla. So... Reading comprehension?

2. The POTUS can't do much if CONUS is in the way, and besides, Trump's electability is questionable.

If Musk was really afraid, don't you think he would be smart enough to hide it?
