eMac to I-mac: moving Photo's between them.

People, whilst awaiting the I-mac upgrade before replacing my aged eMac with a PowerPC G4 chip, bought about 2004/5, I was wondering how difficult it would be for me to transfer my pictures and music across to the new machine. COuld I simply put them all on my Lacie external HDD and then up load to the new machine? Or will the chip difference prevent this? Sorry if this is a bit dim:confused:
