Email apps cannot access iOS-installed notification sounds???

I apologize if this has been covered...I did a search first, but did not see any threads on this...

A little background...I've switched from android to an iPhone (yay!)...I am trying to get my email set up as closely as possible as what I had on my old phone.

I have multiple imap email accounts (not gmail, not yahoo, etc....they're on my own domains...). I would like to find an app with true push email.

In addition, I need to be able to set individual "new email" notification sounds for each separate account...and I need to be able to set these from the sounds I've installed on my iPhone...not whatever the app developer thinks is a cute sound or whatever. (I'm not trying to be a jerk...I have hearing loss from military deployments and the sounds I've installed on the phone are in the frequency range I can hear the most reliably...)

I've been looking for an email app that fulfills these requirements for many hours now over the past few days. I've installed all sorts of email apps already and cannot find one that supports true push for imap and lets me select my own iOS-installed sounds per account. It's as if the developers aren't "allowed" access to the installed notification sounds so they must provide their own or something. It's very frustrating because the built-in mail app does not meet my requirements. I need the phone to tell ME when I have email...I shouldn't have to check it constantly or only receive them every 15 minutes.

Again, I apologize if this has been discussed...and for complaining. I'm just running out of apps to try and having a very hard time finding one that can do this.

No one has answered yet so I'm thinking there isn't an app that can do that. I don't know of one, other than the stock Mail app, that has separate sounds per account.

The only solution I can see for you is to host your domain email accounts somewhere that pushes to the Mail app. Mine's at Office 365 ($4/month/account).

Sure, I read that. I'm just trying to think of a workaround.

The iOS mail app supports push with certain services (say... iCloud).

Set the incoming tone to whatever you want. Set iCloud rules to move specific emails into their own folder or VIP specific contacts.

So by sound you won't know who the emails are from but he will hear the tone, and then at least they are sorted in some manageable way.

Take in mind that email push is dependent on the type of email account. Gmail will only fetch. Exchange accounts are push, same with iCloud. If your domain emails are Exchange accounts, they will get pushed to your phone. However, if you're using the email that comes with whoever hosts your domain (which is typically free), those accounts will only setup as fetch.

As to the tones for separate email accounts, you should be able to go to Settings>Notifications>Mail, then choose the account and select the time you want.

I need separate email notification tones for each different email account. This isn't a "I just want it because I want it" thing...it is important to me to differentiate which account the email is from by sound because some accounts receive urgent emails and others don't...I want to know this by the sound and not have to go look.

My android phone did this all easily. I don't understand why this is so difficult on iOS...I really don't. It's like apple has a stranglehold on the installed email notification sounds and other apps can't use them -- if that is true, that's stupid.

I don't know what the problem is with true push email either. All my accounts pushed email to my android phone immediately.

I do appreciate the replies from all of you with ideas on how to get this to work. I guess I will just carry around the stupid note 4 so that I'll know when I really have a new email (it's connected over wifi at work and home which covers most of the time I use it...)

Right. The two issues blocking you are:

1. There isn't a 3rd party app that will give you separate notification sounds for separate accounts...and push might even be an issue if there was. Not sure if the sound issue for third party apps is due to iOS limitations or the developers not building that into the apps.
2. iOS Mail does everything you want except push your email accounts. The solution is to move your private domains to an email host that pushes to iOS Mail. It it comes down to that, BitTitan provides a nice email moving service at a very reasonable price.

Have you tested your loud, custom sounds with iOS yet? I wouldn't be surprised if the notifications won't get as loud on the iPhone as they do on your Android device.

Yes...they are not quite as loud as on my note 4, but more importantly they are in a frequency range that I can hear better than the iOS stock ones.

If you have your tones in iTunes, you can adjust the volume in iTunes then sync back to your phone.

Yes. Using something like Audacity, ringtones can be created/modified to be much louder than any of the stock tones. I've got my custom ringtones syncing via iTunes in the manner you mention and use one of them for Messages notifications.

Yes, unless you want to compress, EQ or otherwise manipulate the ringtone.
