Hello everyone!

I have a question about the default mail program on MacOS. Is it possible to make sure that it checks for new messages every 10 minutes WITHOUT having to keep the program open in execution and if there are, the number of emails received appears on the program icon? In case this is not possible, I was thinking that maybe something could be done with the automator ... Thanks a lot in advance!

If it's not running, how exactly do you expect it to be checking for mail? macOS is a multitasking operating system, why wouldn't you want it to be running?

I'm sure there are still more than a few BIFF utilities out there for the Mac.

Obviously it is not a primary necessity. Keeping the program open in the background does not bother me, but I was simply wondering if there was a daemon to check mail every now and then to know if something had arrived or not without opening the program
