i copied my outlook express (win xp) files from my pc, but can't figure out how to import them in mail.app or thunderbird. do i need to first import them into outlook express 5? or do i need to go back to the pc and install thunderbird on that to get my files?

According to Mail's "import mailbox" feature, you may import:
Entourage
Outlook Express
Claris Emailer (2.0v3)
Netscape (4.0+)
Eudora
Mail for Mac OS X
Standard mbox files

I have to assume that means PC files as well as Mac. Have you tried using this method? If so, what were the results (error message, file did not appear in Import menu)...

yeah i tried the import thing, but it tries to import from the programs not their database files (i.e. it looks for outlook express). i also tried importing my information into the mac os 9 version of outlook express, but that thing is stone age compared to the windows version.
