I wrote Steve Jobs an email a few days ago about a defective MBP (not mines, my uncle's 15'' Core Duo. lol) Today he emailed me back! Or rather, a certain somebody from Corporate Exec. Relations. She gave me her number and told me to call it. Now to those of you who have sent emails to Steve Jobs and gotten responses, what information do I need to have ready for them to be able to do anything? Should I ready my Mac serial number? Any work order from Apple Care? Is any information at all necessary? Or do I just give them my addy and they'll just send me a new one? I'm doing this for my uncle, so I'm afraid I don't have any documentation right now.

I wrote in with a detailed e-mail about my issue (it was the CPU whine, Geniuses rudely blew me off). Someone from Exec Relations called up and I related my issues and how I'd gone about trying to solve them. I don't recall them asking for my serial number.

ER person called Apple Store, arranged for me to return the MBP sans restocking fee, all was right in the Mac world.

But they don't ask for any case numbers or proof so you're just not making this stuff up?

Dumb question, but what is the email you used?

Heh, I emailed them thursday about my 4th macbook repair...

...And now I type this on my brand new C2D Macbook :D. You won't actually get steve, but you will get a rep from Apple Executive relations.

I did the same thing months ago , They sent me a free 17" MBP for my problems with my 3 bad macbooks :) Good Luck

wait a sec, so ur saying the just gave you the mbp, didnt you write in the other thread that they traded your 2,2 mbp for a 2,4 mbp for free as well?

ya right

You guys got to stop giving out the address before people start abusing it and taking it for granted. ;)

There are plenty of threads here where people are using that email before even calling AppleCare. I am sure that Apple will stop treating those emails as important. That sucks for the people that actually have problems that need to be addressed.

OK now let's get back to the topic. ;)

The Apple rep called me at 8:40am today... oi... 8:40am...
They asked me for my case number, and I said I was never given one. I gave them my serial number instead. The Apple rep told me a tech will call me in the next "20-30 min" as they try to find out the case number. So from here, where to next?

Will they likely send me to an Apple Store and have the Geniuses take care of it? Will they just give me a free replacement via phone or would I have to take my current MBP to an Apple Store first and make the exchange there?
