Hello,

Been on iOS 9.2 for a while, all going ok I guess. Last few days I had issues with notifications not appearing/vibrating/making a noise. I'd only know I got one when I unlocked my iPhone and see the red mark stating I got something.

So this drove me a bit crazy so just reinstalled 9.2. Now when I go into the Stock email program to check my hotmail account I get the following error:

"Cannot get mail, the connection to the server failed"

No folders/Emails appear. I know I can add the account manually but there's no option to just sync emails from the past month doing that. Has anyone got a solution for this error? I've reinstalled 9.2 about 3x now in the past 2hrs, keep getting the same error.

Try restarting your phone. (power down, wait, power up).

Have you tried setting up the account through 3rd party e-mail app like Outlook or Spark? At least that would help identify if the problem is the e-mail client itself or something else. You can also try resetting network settings. Are you checkng via LTE or WiFi? Tried the other?

Don't really want to use 3rd party apps because I've always used the default iPhone app, never had this issue before. Tried over 3G & Wifi, didn't work. Had a quick look at Twitter and it seems a few people today are having this problem.

One of my four outlook.com accounts had the same thing happen to it while I was on 9.2 beta. I went back to 9.1 and still could not access that one account (cannot contact server). Then 9.2 was released and the issue persisted. I gave up and forwarded the mail from that account to one of my others, but later decided to give it one more try. To my surprise the account worked. The only way it makes sense to me is to assume the problem was on Microsoft's side.
