After much frustration with Gmail not working right, I'm considering opening up an email account just for my iphone. What is the best service to do this with? has everyone had good experience with the Yahoo push mail?

I didn't have a good experience with yahoo mail cause everytime i sent an email no one would ever receive the email i sent.
So I decided to open up a gmail account just for the iphone and forward emails i really care about onto the gmail iphone account.

I've found gmail to work pretty well, altho I'm also considering trying a Yahoo account for the push support.

The only problem with GMail is if you use it with a laptop/computer as well, you'll get a secondary unread copy there, even if you'll already read it on your iPhone.

I did something a little convoluted. I own a lot of domains and have many different servers I run mail on. My personal mail is only on one account on a shared server though. I was having some spam issues, so I basically set up my main e-mail to go to a gmail account, to get filtered, and then I have it forwarded back to a second regular account. That is the one I check with the iPhone. Is pretty much spam free and works well.

Is your second regular account just one through a web hosting service? For instance, I have Road Runner internet and I get a rr.com address for free. Perhaps I could set up a second gmail to forward my rr.com address emails to and then forward them back for spam filter. Is that kind of what you're saying?

I didn't like the gmail issues where your responses showed back up in the inbox and also how the web interface didn't mirror the status in the iphone so you have to go through unread messages twice.
