Hi all,

Odd issue. I am using the built in Mac mail program. Every once in awhile my Optonline.net mail goes offline in the Mac mail program. If I go and try it in outlook it is working fine. If I use time machine and restore my mail settings back a day it works great until the next time it decides to go offline again.

This is only for sending mail.

Any ideas?

First in Mail go to Mail's menu item 'window' and in the drop-down select 'Connection Doctor'. Does it show it is communicating with the Optimun email server? Can you ping those email servers?

Next is your Time settings in System Preferences->Date & Time getting the correct time?

Also did you contact the email provider to see if they were having some kind of trouble?

Lastly is this happening across all your devices?

I have not checked my other devices, but I will the next time it is down.

I don't think it has anything to do with the provider because on the same computer I can open up outlook and send mail no problem.
