I tried searching but couldn't find anything, but is there way to change the amount of info of an email that is shown on the lock screen? It seems to be either all or nothing. The default view is way too big and shows to much info, but then if I go into Notifications and turn off email preview, it just shows the name of the person who sent it and that's it.

In iOS 9, it would show the name of the sender and the subject line and that was perfect for me! Is this now gone for good?

Thanks in advance!

Have you checked how many lines of preview are set to be displayed in the Mail settings?

I've tried that but that only seems to affect what's shown in the inbox itself not the lock screen. I thought the same thing too and figured that would fix it, but no luck. Thanks though, I'm thinking this may just be how it is. Just disappointing that they actually had lock screen options before but don't seem to now.

Strange. I definitely don't get more than about one line of email showing up in my notifications, while there have been some threads with people seeing a whole big chunk of every email (and in some of them I recall people mentioning the preview lines setting as being something to check).

Hmmm I'll go back and look, maybe I missed something especially if you're not seeing what I am. Thanks again!

I haven't personally played around with that preview lines settings (as mine has always been set to 1 line), so I'm not certain that would necessarily affect it (aside from seeing it come up as as suggestion from someone in another similar thread). But I definitely don't get long notifications for emails (with previews enabled)--they are about as long as they have been in iOS 9 and before. What might really be behind the difference, that seems to be somewhat of a mystery apparently. (Perhaps it might have something to do with the type of email accounts that are involved?)

Okay so I went ahead and selected just 1 line for the preview and that did help! Still shows more than iOS9 but its way better. Just shows sender, subject line and first line of message. It's more than I would want but that's actually a decent fix for now so thanks for suggesting that. I can live with this :) Just weird they removed the option to just have sender and subject line show up.

A bit odd how they tied that setting to notifications too. There are definitely a few things here and there in iOS 10 that are a bit on the odd side as far as how they affect things or why they might be done this way or another way (or why some previously existing things might suddenly no longer be there).

I totally agree. Lots of good improvements but definitely some cases of fixing things that weren't broke to begin with and/or keeping some things but making them more complicated.
