LockInfo has this feature. You can view entire emails right from the notification center.

yes something like the lockinfo app, but i want the preview to show up as soon as when i click on the notification alert in ios5 (without needing to enter the notification center)

i do not want to first enter the notification center and then click on the email preview to view the email :)

I believe IntelliscreenX will do something similar, along with a whole lot more. There's a trial period so you can give it a shot for free.

Also, LockInfo can be configured to take over for the NC, allowing emails to be read while in (most) other apps.

Dont think IntelliscreenX does this.

Regarding Lockinfo, it can take over the NC but i still need to open NC and then click on the email and then ill see the preview. What im looking for is that when the email notification comes up, and when i tap the notification it shows me the preview without having to open NC

Yeah, with LI or ISX you'll have to pull down, then tap. It's one extra motion. That is, twice as many actions. 100% more. Double the time, as it were.

I think that the added features of one of those tweaks make up the difference.

Sorry, life is tough sometimes!

I never used Elert. What happened if a second email came in before your tapped on the notification or when you were reading the first one?

with elert, you can choose how long the notification will be showing before it goes away. i usually set that to 30 seconds.

The notification looks like this:

elert-iphone.jpg

and when you click on the preview it looks like this:

elert2.png

all done without leaving the current app! to shame that this app doesnt work in ios 5 :(

I'm thinking the two scenarios I was asking you about might have contributed lack of demand for Elert as stated on the developer's website. The alternatives we've discussed can handle multiple emails.

I've asked for this feature from the Lockinfo developer (mail preview on tap of mail notification).

And on that note, a Quick Reply similar to biteSMS for email would rock.
