Just discovered that one of my accounts was hacked, and that the hacker may have my "regular" email address. I have temporarily (at least) switched to trying to use a Gmail address. Am having some difficulties. What is the appropriate forum to address this in so that the moderators don't end up having to move it around? Thanks!

Note: I have "googled" the difficulty with Google, but not sure at my age I will live long enough to read their massive volume of notes on the subject.

Okay! Now that I am in the appropriate forum, on to my "difficulties" and the background. I am using Mail, I think. Really not positive and really don't know how to tell. Perhaps that is difficulty number 1. Second, my primary email was apparently hacked and used in a partially successful attempt to get into my credit card/insurance account. That address was through Windstream. Fortunately, I guess, I have another email address through Gmail. Now to the problems I am having. I have asked some people to send me test messages to my Gmail address, and some of the responses have gone directly to the Gmail junk folder. I do not see how to prevent this, at least not with any online help I have found so far. Next, when I try to respond through the "reply button" in Mail, I get a warning that comes up and makes me select which of the two email accounts I want to use. How do I fix that without having to select for each and every email I send? That is a start. Several more questions forthcoming, but I need to absorb the answers to these perplexities first! Thanks!

If you are using the Mail app, open Mail preferences (command-comma) then set "Send new messages from:" to the account you want to use as the default.

Thank you! That solved several problems! First, I do get that Mail preference screen, so I guess I am using the Apple Mail App. Next, I know about these mail and preference options. Then I know how to get it to send the emails out from the right place on the first try.

What about what to do with some gmail getting sent straight to junk mail folder?

That’s so easy your going to kick yourself! Just heightened a message in Junk folder and the right click the message in Junk folder and move it the main box on that server!
