Hi,
I have recently changed the website and server that I use to receive work emails, unfortunately when I put in new settings to receive emails it deleted all my old emails that I guess were sitting on the old server.
I still have those old emails on my iPhone as I've not changed my settings on that yet... so I backed up my iPhone to iCloud BUT
How do I then get my emails from iCloud onto my macbook? When i log into iCloud on my macbook it give no options to do this, just shows my welcome email?
Can anyone help with this... i just need to make sure I can keep the emails on my iPhone and get them somehow onto my macbook mail!
Thanks in advance...

Hi,
I have recently changed the website and server that I use to receive work emails,
If the old mail server still exists, you may be able to login through the webmail interface and download your mailboxes, which you then import into Apple Mail.

unfortunately when I put in new settings to receive emails it deleted all my old emails that I guess were sitting on the old server.

If you don't have a back up elsewhere, they may still be on your computer.
1. Hold down <option key> and then click Finder menu bar > Go > Library to open up your user Library folder.
2. Open Mail folder and then the V2 folder
3. Look for a folder for the account you're missing (e.g., IMAP-myemail@gmail.com)
3.5. Drag the folder for the account you are missing to the Desktop
4. If found then import the email/mailboxes according to these Apple instructions.
5. Finally, within Apple Mail drag the imported email into the folders of your currently active account. I recommend no more than a few hundred at a time to allow safe syncing with the mail server (too many at once can result in permanently lost emails).
I still have those old emails on my iPhone as I've not changed my settings on that yet.

The email account is:
a. inactive (no longer can send/receive), but the emails still sit on your iPhone?
b. active, you still can send/receive email from your iPhone?

Still stuck!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply Smitt, I followed these instructions;
1. Hold down <option key> and then click Finder menu bar > Go > Library to open up your user Library folder.
2. Open Mail folder and then the V2 folder
3. Look for a folder for the account you're missing (e.g., IMAP-myemail@gmail.com)

And found the mboxs... however when I went to 'import mailboxes' through mail then I can't find the 'mail' folder containing the boxes in the library folder??
It exists if I search through Finder menu bar > Go > Library but not when i try to import... I don't understand?
Aslo to answer your other question, the iPhone email is inactive, I can just see the messages.
Many thanks Jess

Hi,
It exists if I search through Finder menu bar > Go > Library but not when i try to import... I don't understand?

Apple hides the Library folder so that users like us don't go poking in it and muck things up. ;-) I incorrectly assumed that Apple Mail would allow you to navigate to the Library folder.

New step:
3.5. Drag the folder for the account you are missing to the Desktop

Continue on to step 4.

Thanks Smitt, I'm going to try and live without importing them as I'm worried I'll make the situation worse, thanks for all your help,, much appreciated!
