I am hoping that 4.2 will use the same emailing capability as what exists today with iPhone 4. With the iPhone from what I've seen it preserves the EXIF geo tag data when it emails a resized photo. The iPad for some reason strips this data out when it resizes the photo for emailing.
Could someone with 4.2 beta please check this.
What you can do is email yourself one or more resized photos (in one email) then save them off on a Pc. If the geotag data is present you will see the lat/long when you do a properties on the photo. I don't own a mac so I don't know how to check it on a mac.
