Hello,
I've been having an issue with sending emails to a friend. Half the time my emails end up in their SPAM folder even though my email address is in their Contact list.

My friend is using an iPhone 8 for their emails (Software version 14.7.1).

I am sending them emails from either my iPad (2017) (Software version 14.7.1) or from my laptop (Linux).

Note: I also use a VPN which is mostly connected to a server outside the USA. I am wondering if this might be causing this problem?

Is there a "Not Spam" button in Apple mail that I've missed? My friend has also dragged my email from their Spam folder to their Inbox, but that hasn't worked to sove this problem.

Any and all help would be much appreciated!

On a last note: I have not yet contacted Apple Support. I thought I'd try here first...

This is more likely an issue with their e-mail provider. They'll need to login to the web version of their email and go through their settings and rules. To see if some setting or rule may be blocking your or if they can add an exception for your email address. Also to check if you are in the address book for the email provider itself and to flag as not spam.

Apple Mail might have some filtering like blocked contacts on the client side. But most of this is done server side through the e-mail provider.

Your email settings wouldn't effect this. Spam filtering and rules are done entirely on your friends side. ie Senders rules don't effect the receivers Spam rules.

As for the VPN I couldn't say. Unless maybe their e-mail host is flagging the originating IP address of the VPN as a spammer IP Address. But I don't know if any e-mail provider publishes info on how their Spam filters work on the back end. At any rate your friend should be able to manually whitelist you e-mail address.

Thanks, Vleocity, I sent your reply to my friend...
