Hello,

New emails do not automatically update in mail app on iOS 11 (iPad Pro 9.7”). This has been occurring on iOS 11.3 and possibly previous 11.2 as well. No notifications and no emails unless I manually open the mail app and pull down and then the emails flood in. It does not matter how much time passes, they won’t automatically update.

I have an AOL email address with correct imap settings. The settings are the same as before and it is working as expected on the iMac.

Anyone else experiencing same/similar issues? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Might try setting Fetch to Manual. Reboot device, then turn Fetch back to whatever was previously. Might just be a messed up config file/settings for that account.

I use Gmail (and it's working) for my mail, so, no idea if something with AOL.

This has been happening with Yahoo mail as well. It started with 11.2 I'm pretty sure. I gave up and use the yahoo mail app now. I wish Apple and/or Yahoo would address this. It's a known issue.

Do you, by any chance, have your fetch schedule set to automatic? It seems to only fetch while the device is connected to a charger. That is if you are using a fetch schedule.
I have push on a few outlook mailboxes and they seem to always push instantly.

AOL has been having issue with mail or Apple Mail app and some user said if you reset or change the password it may fix it but AOL is aware of the issue though.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I'm pretty sure it started with iOS 11.2 for me also.

Indeed, fetch schedule was set to automatic despite previously being set to 15 minutes. I have changed it back and it seems to be better generally although it does still require me to open mail app when I first turn on the iPad.

I've been having some intermittent issues with Mac keep asking to enter AOL mail password for all AOL accounts despite emails still arriving. I will try changing password - maybe it will fix this.
