Hi all,

So for Christmas, I want a Newton. But, I can't decide what one is better, the eMate 300 or MessagePad 2100. I primarily need it for note taking for scouts, student council and other activities, and keeping things in order. I know the eMate is much larger, but it does have a keyboard, where the MessagePad doesn't.

Any suggestions??

Here's the eMate I'd try for:

And the MessagePad:

Good as the eMate is (I used to have one) I think you'd be better off with a Message Pad. A friend of mine used to use a collapsible keyboard with his pda, and maybe you can still get one that's compatible with a Message Pad.
Have a look on the Apple Collectors section - there a quite a few posts about Newtons, and a load of useful links.

I use to have a messagepad 2100 in 1998 or so... it was useful then, but its quite antequated now... but it was WAY ahead of its time.. i wish they made those again.... i would totally grab one... but i just get a more modernized PDA... whats in the market these days? and which ones are compatible with Mac?

I tried both of them when they were new and at that time, I would have suggested the 2100, but at this point, I would suggest a Palm TX and the wireless keyboard.
