I have installed some new RAM into my MacBook and it won't startup. All that happens is the white light constantly shines.

Check the RAM is seated correctly (put it in again), if that doesn't work replace the original RAM.

I've put it in again and it still does not work.

I put the old RAM back in and now all I get is a flashing white light.

Are you absolutely sure they are properly seated? I'm not sure about MBs but sometimes you need to use quite a bit of pressure.

Pretty Sure.

I mean it's pushed in as far as I think it will go.

How do you exactly define properly seated?

Thanks for everyones help by the way, I really appreciate the quick responses.

Did you follow Apple's guide for RAM installation, I can't see how you could break the machine installing RAM, though if the computer can't detect it it can't start up...

That was the exact document I sat down and followed, yup.

I might give it another go in a bit.

Thank you for all your help.

Good end to the story.

All the RAM is now recognised and the MacBook is working fine.

But crikey, you really have to push them in firmly.
