Yer im JB dude
What does the message look like on the mobile that receives emoji?
I think its just jargon because you need an emoji capable phone to decipher the code that depicts the emoji.
All iPhone's 2.2 and up will show Emoji images.
Something interesting happened to me with the Cydia app. I downloaded it on 2.2 and it was working great. When I upgraded to 2.2.1 I did a restore, re-JB etc. the emoji was still available on my phone without re-downloading it from Cydia.

Do they have to be JB?
No, all iPhone's 2.2 and up have the ability to show emotions.
Thanks, what would emoji look like on a non-iPhone?
So I have emoji. But any text I send with them they don't show up - yeah, yeah, they need to be an iPhone 2.2, right? But when I say don't show up, I mean the text message in its entirety is not received. Even to an iPhone with 2.2.
So how is this carrier related? Does the sending carrier have to be compatible, or the receiving one? Does the receiver have to have the emoji enabled also? This is for SMS.
For the record I am on T-mobile, and when I send them to myself, I get them fine.
Must be a T-mobile thing. It was Emoji has worked flawlessly on all text I have sent to AT&T serviced iPhones running 2.2+ This includes non JB phone who do not have the feature enabled via the app store hack or plist through iTunes.
I have Touch Dial Emoji on T-Mobile and i can confirm that the messages do not get received at all when using emoticons.
